Carolina grew up on the 80´s listening to a wide and fascinating music repertoire, her musical roots were born influenced by Bossa Nova to Classical Music, Jazz, Disco, Funk, Soul, Heavy Metal, among others; but it was evidently Dance and Electronic Music that made her heart beat faster
90´s
Back in the early 90´s Candy heard Drum n´Bass, House Music, Acid House and Techno for the first time, and these music genres firmly put her feet in the nightclub culture, discotheques and raves
00´s
By the 00´s, Candy took over the turntables, and from that moment on, her life was possessed and lead by music, paving her road on discovering her artistic identity and personal expression
She has been gifted by an intrepid thirst for new music that are still unknown by her ears, always in search and digging for new vinyl records and digital music from veteran producers and newcomers as well, her constant search is about new music with the ability to make her ears and mind sparks
The beginning of her dj career started at the true underground scene, at clubs and parties in Brazil back in her hometown Curitiba, on a time when the dj was not the star of the parties, but music was. She became a resident at a few clubs and parties, and was playing frequently at one of her favorites small clubs named “Stereo Pub”, where she gracefully made her debut gig in the early 00´s
On 2005 she started curating small parties that were known by the forward thinking of blending diverse music styles and artists with a very rich and extend line ups, presenting local and guests djs deploying such genres as Breakbeat, House Music, IDM, “Jackin” Techno, Ghettotech, Electro, Drum N´Bass, Techno, Hard Techno, Acid Techno, Industrial, Gabba and Hardcore; her eclectic parties always reflects her musical senses and influences
Things went fast to being booked at big clubs and big parties in Sao Paulo, where she had a monthly residence at the legendary club “A Loca” for a few years, as at the same time, she was djing at clubs in Rio de Janeiro and other cities all over Brazil as well. 2007 was the
year when Candy started touring internationally around South America, in countries such as Colombia and Venezuela, coming
along with frequent tours in Europe, charming countries such as Belgium, Germany, Portugal, Spain, Netherlands, Slovenia, Croacia, Italy, France, Poland, Scotland, Ireland, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Czech Republic, Bulgaria among others
Been regularly spotted at the line ups of big festivals such as “Awakenings Festival”, and their special edition at Gashouder, “Dance Valley Festival”, “Djax it Up Parties”, “Apokalypsa Festival”, “Dreambeach Festival”, “Aquasella Festival”, big clubs as “Fabrik (Madrid)”, "Florida135", among others during the years to follow
2012 was when Candy decided to move to Barcelona, Spain, where she is based until the present moment. In Barcelona she became the head curator/promoter of “Loud” and “Get Loud” events all over Spain and mostly Catalunya region, envisioning and creating the concept of such parties (and small festivals as well) capable to bring together the most pure Techno and it´s subgenres headliners, always spicing it up with the greatest energetic Hard Techno artists
She has no boundaries or rules when comes to music and whenever she feels inspired to offer something different, Candy do not settle or either hesitate on not doing things the way it always has been done
That´s why your ears can be caught by a pleasant surprise by this notorious artist, and you can listen to her uncompromisingly serving a large range of Techno aspects whenever she feels to spice the dance floor up
She can drive around the most hypnotic Techno, groovy and pounding beats, sometimes bringing some delightful housy / funky feelings that can be heard on her sets, or, explicitly traveling through heavy industrial sounds and distorted energetic Hardtechno (genre that cannot be mentioned without saying her name)
Her versatility and precise lecture of the dance floor makes her an outstanding artist to be well positioned and perfectly tailored at both circumstances of big festivals and small intimate atmosphere clubs
On either scene scale, she is extremely flexible and beautifully adapt herself with her edgy musical selection and mixing reputation, generating an unforgettable experience and taking the present ravers onto a deeper level journey to another dimension of their minds connections, bodies and emotions
Being a dj is one thing; being a producer is a whole completely different universe, and on 2013 Candy started her career as a producer, releasing at some big Techno and Hard Techno labels. Her music and remixes can be heard on labels such as "Hydraulix Records" (UK), “Hard Electronic” (US), “Industrial Strength (US), “Concrete Berlin Records” (DE), and as No.Dolls on “Cause Records” (DE), “Mental Torments” (NL) or “Mad Made” (HU) to name a few
Candy happens to be incredibly versatile also in the studio. Her productions get a move around the variety of distorted raw and unpolished sounds with acidic textures, always with exquisite touch, corpulent baselines, contouring hard-hitting elements that combines rugged rhythms and sharp grooves, which makes her sound signature aesthetic unmistakable to the ears of the listener
This unique and authentic artist has evolved within the years and developed a very particular and remarkable connection with her followers Techno lovers from the old generations and the new fresh blooded clubbers, putting all her creative energy and passion together on her performances and in her music
Candy Cox´s music is her manifest of her self expression, that merges all her sonic identification and influences together, as one of her sources of inspiration
On 2023, Candy launched her own label "Robota Records" along side with the first edition of the series of showcases events curated by Candy herself, a creative and strong concept, presenting her favorite artists, with the inclined vision of blending old school Techno roots and feelings, with the freshness of the "here and now" moment that we are experiencing and witnessing within the Techno edges
